O/35 2018 World Championship Qualifying Round
The competition started with Justin Ross a one time Estuary rider showing a liking for the Dunlop Road track with a superb maximum, Charlenko and Kornacki were quick arounf here to, but the competition was so hot that 4 riders contested Heat 21 to qualify for the semi finals. A great start and a relaxing day for some whilst others in the group wil lbe owrking on their bikes ready for the hectic schedule ahead.

Tony Gillard was the least expected winner from a star studded field, qualifing winner Ross ended with just 2 pts this time around, as Klaesson, nice to see Scott Bridges in the competition, Fredrik Andersen, current racer Ryan Irwin, Olle Janssen, Leo Raba and Knud Lundgren all quaified, with Ivanov the reserve. Martin Shaw ex skipper of Grays Flyers around these parts and Jesper Risager struggled tonight,

Petr rode back the years in a superb night of racing, three current racers saw Simon Stevens a one club rider over 21 seasons won the race off for 3rd place, ex Estuary rider Viv Thompson (10) qualified for the final, but evergreen Carl Hooper (44) lines up in the Final as a reserve. Mark Black showed class shines over form, Russians Shirakov who qualified and Ila Charlenko who raced to 2 victories before falling injured could have been a threat, Lechowicz, Sachs and Gough completing the list of qualifiers, ales Fortes will be disappointed as the Estuary coach failed to qualify.

Our non qualifying riders were joined by a few older riders, of whom 3 were podium sitters in various seasons in the GP's.
Canadian Ferris proving his youth was his strength and to win a race off against Jason Cobb (NZ) gave him a prestigeous victory in the after life, whilst the everygreen Michal Beijerholm (a regular podium sitter) beat youngster Graham Bannerman for the last podium spot.
Lots of close racing and spills with a couple of minor injuries, the racing kept the fans on their toes and was a nice pre-amble to tomorrows FINAL.

O/35 2018 World Championship - THE FINAL
A great conclusion to what has been a super few days of speedway, seeing some of the World greats back on bikes has brought a shiver down the spine, the fans supported the event throughout and our media outlet (forum) has been well read, so with interest so big, the 0/35's are getting their own place on the website with the results of last years event up on the site too.
The result today proving that the younger element of riders had a big say in the final which included 4 current Sim riders and one transfer listed racer, Ryan Irwin currently racing for Milton Keynes gave his season a lift with a very good victory to become the 2018 World O35 Champiion, the hard riding Russian Shirakov out raced Petr Verner in a race off for 2nd place, whilst long time Sheffield Don Simon Stevens claimed 4th place on the number of wins on the night beating meeting favourite Leon Raba who finshed 5th, Viv Thompson looked happy with 8th, reserves Ivanov 7/3 (7th) and Carl Hooper 5/2 (11th) both showed their abilty and may well have been a force if they qualified. Gillard an earlier winner had an indifferent night(12th). Injuries to first timer Scott Bridges who wanted so much to make an impression to get himself a club and Knud Lundgren spoilt an otherwise excellent night, congratulations to Ryan IRWIN just CHAMPION!!!!!!!!
