BRITISH GRAND PRIX |
Wild card RAY FRANCE (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) stunned the GP regulars and furthered his growing reputation with a win in the British Grand Prix, he was consistent throughout before racing to victory ahead of SVEN SVENSSON (STOCKHOLM SCORPIONS), TIBOR NEMECEK (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) and HAYDEN WOOD (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) in the Grand Final. Svensson and Nemecek both added 16 points, Svensson pushing up 3 places to 9th, within striking distance of an automatic qualifying place in next season's series. For Nemecek this could be the round that was to prove vital in the championship chase - he started the day top of the leaderboard and the 5 riders behind him all failed to hit double figures in this round to see the gap extended to a big 17 points with just 2 rounds remaining. For the final Grand Finalist, Wood, it was a solid 11 points, it could have been more but for an engine failure in the final, that solidifies his top 8 place overall. |
RICKY ANTUNOVICH (BOTTESFORD BULLETS) and MACIEJ TERCJAK (WOLSTON WARRIORS) both reached the Semi Finals and slightly improved their overall standings in the top 8. The other riders to extend their meeting were JACK HAGEN (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) and NIKITA FEDERENKO (MOSCOW MOTHS) who will want to produce 2 big scoring results in the final rounds, sitting 12 and 8 points behind the top 8 at the moment. |
From the rest of the field KENNI ALGREEN (WANTAGE KINGS) must have been disappointed with just 6 points and dropping a place in the standings but he actually closed the gap on a rostrum place overall. Also scoring 6 points was FILLIPPE CHONG (WANTAGE KINGS) who remains in 2nd overall but is the 17 point which has opened up too large for him to chase down in the final 2 rounds? Bottom of the pile in this round was BORIS DVOYNEV (NEWMARKET RAIDERS) - a surprising result given he started the day in 3rd place and nobody was expecting just a 2 point return from him; the good news for the Russian is that he holds onto 3rd, for now, but will need better than this if he wants to be there at the end of the season. |
